A Day Trip for the Holidays!

Another holiday event to share with my snowbird friends that is a favorite of mine-Christmas by the Sea in Southport! Southport is a quaint fishing village located about 45 minutes north of North Myrtle Beach, just south of Wilmington. Visiting Southport for the Christmas holiday is like stepping back in time as the majority of the waterfront homes are all members of the historical society and the shops and restaurants are all local.
This Saturday, December 12th, is the best day of the month to visit as the majority of the events are held on this day. A holiday concert featuring local high school bands and a Christmas Tour of Homes are two of the daytime events while the evening brings a Winter Night Song, Reflections of the Christmas Eve Wanderings of one E. Scrooge, Esq, an original adaption of the Dickens classic. There are horse drawn carriage rides to view the town which is beautifully decorated for the holidays. My favorite part of the day is the Lighted Holiday Boat Flotilla where locals decorate their boats and float on the water. The holiday lights sparkling off of the water are spectacular!
Wishing all of my snowbird friends a wonderful holiday season and if you have not yet booked your winter rental getaway it is not too late! I have some really great properties that are new to our rental program for the year!

A Few Great Restaurants to Try Out!

To all of my snowbird friends! I wanted to share 2 really great restaurants that I went to this past week.
On Monday, my fiancee and I drove to the historic downtown area of Conway and had lunch at The Trestle Deli. We had an amazing salad platter of chunky chicken salad, fruit chicken salad, and oriental shrimp salad with a side of pasta salad and the best sourdough bread! The bread was so good that after finishing our lunch we walked down the street to their bakery and bought a loaf to take home. We of course bought a pastry as well! Wonderful eclairs!
Saturday evening we met friends at the newly opened Millikens Reef located at the Dock Holidays Marina off of 13th Ave North in North Myrtle Beach. They offer indoor dining as well as an outdoor bar that is enclosed for the winter months. We had some delicious grilled scallops, fried calamari, and the best hushpuppies that I have found so far on the beach! They offer a full menu for both lunch and dinner as well as a sushi menu which I will be trying on our next outing.
Millikens Reef will be an excellent place to view the Intercoastal Boat Regatta on Saturday, November 28th as it is the turning point for the boats.

Fun Snowbird Winter Activities!

To all of my snowbird friends! I want to share some more fun winter events that are coming up in the next week.
The Market Commons is having their 2nd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 27th at Valor Memorial Park from 5:00-6:30. After this beautiful tree lightning enjoy dinner at one of the many wonderful restaurants at Market Commons. My favorite is Tommy Bahamas-the Loki Loki Tuna Poke is a must try appetizer!
One of my favorite events to kick off the holiday season is the Intercoastal Boat Regatta on Saturday, November 28th. This favorite of both locals and visitors starts at dust at the Cricket Cove Marina in Little River and follows the waterway up to the Dock Holidays Marina, home to the newly opened Millikans waterway restaurant and bar. If you plan to view the regatta from one of the local restaurants, plan on arriving early as seats go fast!
Prior to the regatta, Little River will be hosting a Christmas Market on their waterfront with a pet parade at noon and a Christmas parade at 2:00. Visit the Little River Chamber of Commerce website for more details.
Please check back for more fun snowbird holiday happenings around the Grand Strand Area!
